Check out all the Sidewalk Cafes in Brooklyn via this Map
In the fleeting days of summer, the impulsiveness to venture outdoors should permeate all aspects of your social life: that’s because sleet, snow, wind and rain are lurking somewhere in the stratosphere, promising to force us all into seasonal hibernation once winter rears its frigid head in a few months. That being said, the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs released this nifty map cataloging the city’s plethora of sidewalk cafes, which will allow you to find the many evasive gems tucked away in your neighborhood.
Prior to the map’s release, Consumer Affairs Commissioner Julie Menin said in a statement that “only a list of licensed cafes was available on our website and that just didn’t seem like enough.” Now however, all credited and legal sidewalk cafes are locatable with the push of a button. The DCA’s map is straightforward: just type in your zip code or address and find the interactive map flooded with cafes. Once you’ve found the outpost of your choice: get yourself a cold brew and chillax with your friends. Based on what you find using the tool, you can travel with a literal posse, as a sidebar lists the outdoor seating capacity of each cafe.
If you’re an aspiring sidewalk vendor yourself, you can also find valuable info on permits, licensing and the general knowhow of opening up your own establishment.
