For the past few years, a number of Northside Media Group employes have run the incredibly popular Brooklyn Half Marathon, held annually on the third Saturday of May, on a route that extends from Prospect Park to the boardwalk at Coney Island. Historically, the Northside employees who’ve participated have come from various business departments and never from the considerably more slovenly art and editorial departments.
But that is all changing this year, as a whopping four people from our side of the room will lace ‘em up, while a mere three people from their side could be bothered. (This, it should be noted, is exactly as far as the trash-talking—if you can even call it that—can go on our end, for it is an undeniable fact that by the time our four people finish, each of their three people will be relaxing on the boardwalk, approximately five beers, two hot dogs, and one Cyclone ride deep. They are fast; we are not.)
We teamed up with our friends at Vacant Light for a video about the Half, but also just about running in general. In addition to our publisher and CEO Nick Burry and our VP of Sales & Marketting Jesse Smith–not to mention representatives from North Brooklyn Runners and New York Road Runners— you’ll spot a few other Northside staffers, none of whom care to be identified by name. Hope you enjoy. And if you’re running, good luck!
