Because there just aren’t enough opportunities for Williams-bros to proclaim, Lonely Island-style, “I’m on a boat!” a new bar on the Greenpoint waterfront is opening up on a barge. Brooklyn Barge Bar is opening up at 91 West St., near Transmitter park, to serve you food and drink both on picnic tables on the land and on the barge proper. The owner’s name is Will Drawbridge. We did not make that up.
Drawbridge, who is modeling the new place on Chelsea’s bar boat The Frying Man, assured DNA Info that seasickness wouldn’t be a problem for potential patrons. “It doesn’t move, hardly at all,” he said. “It just offers an incredible view of New York City, frankly.”
Liquor license and lease are still pending, but all going well, he’s hoping to open up on May 1 and run it until roughly October 31.
