MTA Bus Hits, Kills Man Outside His Flatbush Home
This must be the week where we get “Bingo” in the public transportation fears fulfilled department. Not only was some straphanger stabbed on the 6 train on Sunday, but last night, a Brooklyn man was struck and killed by an MTA bus. Jean Bonne-Annee, 78, was just steps from his hom on Farragut Road when a bus struck and killed him while turning onto New York Avenue in East Flatbush last night.
Police officials told the Daily News that emergency responders rushed to the scene, but Bonne-Annee could not be saved. In an unusual step, the bus driver, 57-year-old Reginald Prescott, was arrested and charged with failing to yield the right of way. It’s rare for an MTA driver to be arrested after a fatal collision, but the incident, an MTA spokesman tells Gothamist, is currently under investigation by the organization.
