Amazon Is Delivering Groceries to Park Slope Now
Indeed, Amazon Fresh has arrived. (I even spotted one of their green trucks with my very own eyes last night.) But what will that actually mean? Previously, the service has only been tested in California and Seattle. New York is a whole ‘nother grocery town. The service offers free same day delivery for orders over $35 (if you place that order before 10 a.m., otherwise it’s next-day), and includes not just groceries, but also things like electronics and shampoo.
The service isn’t actually just “free after $35,” though. It’s $299 a year for Amazon Prime members, though the company is running a free trial through the end of the year. It’s a move that’s clearly designed to tackle Fresh Direct, which is all I’ve been here for a while, buddy. More grocery delivery systems are coming, too. Google Express, a similar service, recently teamed up with Fairway to deliver groceries on the same day.
