Taste Talks Chicago Releases Its Official Schedule
The wait is over: the official schedule has finally been released for the inaugural iteration of Taste Talks Chicago, being held from October 3rd-5th this year!
Curated by Blackbird and avec’s James Beard Award-winning chef, Paul Kahan, the rest of the roster essentially reads as a cherry-picked list of the Windy City’s brightest culinary stars.
In addition to overseeing Chicago’s own “Mother of Pearl” dinner hosted at Kinmont Restaurant, as well as the always exciting All-Star BBQ (expect dishes from Brooklyn curator, Danny Bowien, as well as top chefs Matty Matheson, Jason Hammel and Amanda Cohen), Kahan will join Marc Vetri, Dave Cleverton and Michel Nischan to discuss the world of farm-to-table dining on the panel, “The Evolution of The Farm Dinner in City Dining.”
Local hot spots Eataly, Open Secret Studios, and Palmer Square are slated to host several events throughout the weekend, such as “Businesses that Last, Restaurants 10 Years Later,” a panel on restaurants with staying power moderated by Wailin Wong, editor of The Distance; “American Cider in the Midwest” moderated by Kate Bernot from RedEye Chicago; and “The Wildest Beers in Town” moderated by Michael Kiser from Good Beer Hunting, that will feature several Chicago-area brewers.
Before flaunting his grilling chops during the BBQ, the inimitable Rick Bayless will also take part in a one-on-one interview discussing his career and passions, and to help attendees bolster their Instagram food shots, Huge Galdones, Johanna Lowe and other successful photographers will show the crowd the tips and tricks that will help tell a better story through taste, at their “Food Photography and Storytelling Technique Lab.” Leading food startup Dinner Lab will present a one-night-only pop up dinner at an undisclosed location with Pat Sheerin from Trencherman, and Dave Cleverton of Kinnikinnick Farm, Jessica Murnane of One Part Plant, Jake Bickelhaupt from 42 Grams, Food Stylist Johanna Lowe and Anne Owen of Owen + Alchemy will also bring their considerable culinary expertise to the fore.
So whether you’re a Windy City local, or just more than willing to travel for awesome food, be sure to secure your spot at Taste Talks Chicago, and order those tickets now!
