The Body of Missing Brooklyn Musician, Peter Spear, Has Been Found
In a sad update on a story we reported last week, the body of Brooklyn musician, Peter Spear, was found after he’d gone missing. Police found the body in a “wooded area” and an autopsy conducted have led the police to believe that it was a suicide.
Spear’s family released a statement a few days ago on the Facebook page they started to help find Peter:
It is with the deepest sorrow we have ever experienced that we report to you that our precious Peter Spear’s body was found and we have identified it. We are together as a family and lovingly supported by friends. The community of love that came together around Peter was a testament to how he cared for each of us. We know that you love Peter and that you love us and want to help. As needs arise we will not hesitate to reach out. Please continue to pray for us. No arrangements have been made yet. We will share those details as plans go forward.
And then yesterday, the page was updated once more to say:
We would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. As of now we have not made any arrangements. We will be celebrating Peter’s life in New York and in Denver in the coming weeks and information will be posted on this page as it is available. We look forward to celebrating with everyone who loved him.
Peter loved music from a young age and it was through the mentoring of Paul Romaine and the Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts that he found his bass chops. In lieu of flowers, we are setting up a scholarship with CCJA so that more young people can find what Peter found in music. We will be posting a link on this page tomorrow, so that donations to a scholarship fund can be made in Peter’s memory. This would make him so proud.
-With Love,
The Spear Family
