Get Free “Crazy Pyes” at the OITNB Food Truck This Week
While you’re busy enjoying our very own Northside Festival this Saturday when Williamsburg Walks takes over Bedford Avenue from Metropolitan to N 12th for outdoor concerts, installations and pop-up parks, be sure to turn down N 7th for the most random television show–food truck pairing we never could have dreamed up—an Orange Is The New Black–themed food truck. According to Variety, it will be handing out free “Crazy Pyes” (i.e., regular pies) in honor of the beloved character, Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren, who notably shamed Piper by saying, “I threw my pie for you.”
The truck starts its tour of the city today, and will venture to a different street corner each day until Sunday, June 15 (all are located in Manhattan except for Saturday’s), where it’ll be shilling out free fruit-flavored pies as well as chocolate and vanilla swirl ice cream cones.
Here’s the schedule:
- Thursday, June 12: 4-8 p.m.: Broome Street at West Broadway
- Friday, June 13: 4-8 p.m.: Between 22th and 23rd streets, near Madison Square Park
- Saturday, June 14: 2-6 p.m.: Williamsburg, Brooklyn, at North 7th St.
- Sunday, June 15: 1-5 p.m.: West side of Central Park near Columbus Circle
Turns out, we’re more than okay with admittedly terrible puns, just as long as there’s free pie involved.
