Dough Is Heading To Union Square, Not Chelsea
Last week, we put together a list of Brooklyn-born businesses that have recently opened new locations in Manhattan, because that’s officially a thing now. And this weekend we found further proof of the trend, coming across a brief posting on Craigslist seeking employees for a new Dough outpost–in Union Square. Here’s the listing word-for-word:
Dough Brooklyn has been consistently ranked as one of the best doughnut shops in NYC. Given their success, they’re opening a new shop in Union Square, and they’re looking for Doughnut Makers. If you have some professional cooking experience and have a passion for the culinary arts, please come to the interview at the new Dough location this Thursday, May 29th.
Now, about six months ago, there were rumors circulating that Bed-Stuy-bred Dough was heading to Chelsea for their first Manhattan location, but maybe they didn’t want to be so close to the equally popular Doughnut Plant, which is located at 220 W. 23rd Street. So, the next best place would be the easily accessed Union Square. Or right outside it, since the new location will border the Flatiron District and sit at 14 W. 19th Street near 5th Avenue. That’s a few short blocks south of Madison Square Park… and Shake Shack.
