Brooklyn Does Manhattan: A Roundup Of BK Businesses In The City
Sweet Chick
Born and bred in Williamsburg, the folks behind this chicken-and-waffle joint will soon open a second location in the Lower East Side (178 Ludlow Street near Houston), moving into the space formerly occupied by Max Fish. Unfortunately, the new spot was mired in controversy early on, when residents living next door to the new eatery filed a complaint, stating that Sweet Chick LES would be a “major fire hazard.” It looks like their complaints went unnoticed, though, since Sweet Chick is set to open any day now. According to Bedford + Bowery, new menu items will include “chicken-fried short ribs with mashed potatoes and beer gravy, a Greek-yogurt cheesecake with Meyer-lemon marmalade, pork tenderloin with collard greens and black-eyed peas, a grilled quail salad with fig puree and toasted hazelnuts, and (to drink) a peach-and-mint-infused iced tea with bourbon.”
