Adopt A Cat At Bushwick’s Silent Barn This Weekend
Comedian Demetri Martin once said, “Owning a dog in the city is like saying my need for companionship outweighs my distaste for picking up shit,” and he could not have been more on point.
We love dogs as much as the next person, but you have to admit, owning a cat is a way better choice in New York City. They’re low maintenance, uncaring (like everyone else here) and you’ll never, ever have to take them outside for a walk in the dead of winter.
If you wholeheartedly agree with our (and Mr. Martin’s) assessment, then why not head down to Silent Barn this weekend and make good on that agreement by adopting a little feline of your own. The Bushwick venue is making a whole day of it.
According to Brokelyn, this Sunday, May 25, prospective cat owners can drop by Silent Barn’s Meow Day event between noon and 5 p.m. to peruse a wonderful selection of adoptable cats.
Representatives from Crusade For Cats will be practically giving the little guys away to loving and (hopefully) permanent homes. There will also be handmade cat beds on-site so you can tuck your new addition in as soon as you get home.
If you’re more slow to love (just like a cat!), Meow Day will be also be an epic party featuring “raffle prizes, face painting, a cat video booth, cat nail art and cat-inspired merch” so no pressure to adopt if you just want to hang out and weigh your options.
Those interested in attending can visit Silent Barn at 603 Bushwick Avenue near Jefferson Street and learn more about the event here.
