Oh, we’re all capable of cleaning our own apartments. We’re not lazy. It’s just that we work very hard, and time gets away from us. And now it’s a beautiful day, and as much as we don’t want to, we should really roll up our sleeves and —
Wait a minute. This is stupid. We’ve got $19, right? Why not have a professional handle this job?
But we don’t want to spend a lot of time setting this all up. So we check out Handybook, a cleaning service serving Brooklyn with a website that seems easy to use, and we are pleasantly surprised. For a customer’s first 2-hour home cleaning, they’re offering an introductory price of $19. Not bad! We spent more than that on a cab last night because we didn’t want to take the subway, so this seems pretty reasonable.
We have even less patience for filling out forms than we do for cleaning, so it’s good that we managed to book our appointment online within a minute or two. Any momentary concerns we have of some sketchy person wandering around our house are driven away when we read that their home cleaners are experienced, fully insured, and their backgrounds have been checked. And if we’re not happy with the job they did, we get our money back.
We start to relax, and think about what we’re going to do with our day. Long brunch? A last-minute picnic? Bocce at Greenwood Park? Either way it will be nice to come home to a clean apartment.
