Brooklyn At the Beach: Which Smorgasburg Vendors Are Heading to Jones Beach This Summer?
Brooklyn’s beloved open-air feasting festival, Smorgasburg, is taking its good eats out east this summer and heading to Jones Beach. You will not want to get sand in this food.
Via Smorgasburg’s Eric Demby, starting Memorial Day weekend and running through Labor Day, the incredibly popular foodie paradise is going to be curating a pop-up of sorts at Long Island’s Jones Beach. Called SmorgasBar, favorite vendors like Handsome Hank’s Fish Hut (fish & chips, clams, shrimp), Home Frite (fresh-cut potato and sweet-potato Belgian-style fries, as well as sausage), Rubirosa (pizza and pasta), and Summers (fresh juices and LA-style tacos) will be setting up shop all summer. There will also be two more booths that are going to feature a rotating cast of vendors, including Smorgasburg-favorite El Gato Nacho and Fleisher’s butcher, which will be serving grilled meats.
But with all that good food, what are you going to drink? SmorgasBar has you covered with Long Island breweries such as Southampton Publick House and Greenport Harbor Brewing Company, as well as Kelvin Slush Co. frozen drinks (both with or without alcohol), and a Friday-Sunday raw bar by Brooklyn Oyster Party.
So head on out to Robert Moses State Park (hey, not everything Moses did was awful, right? maybe!) and enjoy some of Brooklyn’s best food on the beach.
SmorgasBar: Brooklyn by the Beach will be open Friday-Sunday from May 23 to June 15 (plus Monday, May 26), then daily through Labor Day. Tentative hours are 11:00am to 9:00pm.
