Williamsburg Nightclub, Verboten, Now Serving Sunday Brunch
Nightclubs and brunch don’t really go together, right? Or, at the very least, there should be a sizable gap between a night of overzealous, drunken dancing and a Sunday morning discussion of the pros and cons of pointed-toe shoes over mimosas. Maybe we’re just old-fashioned.
If you don’t share our opinion on the issue, then perhaps you have more in common with the people behind Williamsburg’s Verboten, who are launching a weekly Sunday brunch at the nightclub starting this week.
We’ll admit that this isn’t exactly out of the blue. After all, when Verboten opened its doors back in March, the owners said the club would feature some daytime programming.
Still, their brand of brunch will be a bit different than what we’re used to. Instead of doing the usual 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Verboten will really cater to their night owl clientele and start brunch at noon, serving food in the club’s skylit Cabaret Bar until 8 p.m. Chef Nick Grosz, a graduate of the French Culinary Institute and former chef at Momofuku, will lead the charge.
Here’s a preview of his menu:
Chicken Caesar
Crispy Thigh, Little Gems, Smoked ParmesanBeets & Wild Arugula
Grapefruit, Pistachio, Brown-Butter VinaigrettePeekytoe Crab Cake
Cucumber, Watercress, Pickled Green Garlic AioliAlmond Griddle Cakes

Around 4 p.m., a DJ will begin spinning tunes and continue doing so well into the night. This weekend, Walker & Royce and DJ Andrew Grant, known for their “groove-heavy deep house” and “dubby-techhouse,” respectively, are set to kick off the inaugural meal. So, maybe don’t bring your pearl-clutching grandmother to this particular Sunday brunch.
