New Co-Working Space/Café/Bar Coming To Bushwick
Between the upcoming ‘Taste of Brooklyn’ and the news that a multi-use co-working space is coming soon, Starr Street is getting a lot of action today.
According to Brownstoner, a new events space/café/bar called Mayday will open at 214 Starr Street this fall.
So far, the space sounds pretty interesting: In a recent post on Mayday’s Facebook page, the business is framed as “a dynamic center for social justice organizing, community empowerment and creative expression” and ” neighborhood resource and a citywide destination for engaging programming, dancing and other nightlife activities, and a welcoming gathering place for people to work, learn and build together.”
A real mouthful, we know.
Literally on top of all that, there will be a rooftop garden (the third one we’ve heard about this month alone) built by Ecostation NY. Meanwhile, the floors below will include a second floor event space (set to open by August 1) and a 1000 square foot first floor featuring a bar, café, event space and top-of-the-line sound system.
Income from renting the aforementioned event space and the coffee shop/bar will support free, public programming at the new spot.
For more information, visit Mayday’s Facebook page and look for the space to open its doors this fall.
