The Best Quotes From AP’s Bushwick Trend Piece, Presented Without Comment
Yesterday evening, the Associated Press published an article entitled “Street Art and Trendy Cafes in Bushwick, Brooklyn.” Like all of AP’s pieces, this one may be (and already has been) republished in over 1,400 other publications in the United States. In other words, a lot of people are going to read it. Here are some choice quotes from said article, presented without comment.
The opening line:
“For the last few years, a neighborhood called Williamsburg has been the epicenter of Brooklyn cool.”
On “street art”:
“(please don’t call it graffiti!)”
Advice for tourists:
“…for out-of-towners willing to explore Bushwick, take the L subway line to Jefferson Street and start wandering.”
On perusing Shops at the Loom:
“His eclectic wares and “found objects” range from hand-cranked candles wound around a coil, to bandages designed to match various skin colors.”
Advice for tourists coming from other parts of Brooklyn:
‘”I’m from Williamsburg but I’m here for a few days to explore the neighborhood,’ explained Jodi Jones, a fashion photographer stopping by the Kave cafe. ‘I keep hearing the hipster scene is in Bushwick.'”
On dining at Dear Bushwick:
“And enjoy the quirky decor: A picture of a caped damsel on a white horse sits next to a handwritten nursery rhyme, ‘Ride a cockhorse to Banbury Cross, to see a fine lady upon a white horse.'”
On Roberta’s (one sentence within three entire paragraphs devoted to it):
“Sometimes you can snag a seat at the bar and order food from there; additional tables are located in an atrium inside converted shipping containers, a hipster dreamscape of corrugated industrial-chic green.”
Here is the full article. However, we recommend that instead of reading it, you use that time to complain to the city about dangerous intersections, or maybe ask yourself whether or not Brooklyn is a good place to die.
