A Primer: Brooklyn-Themed Bars, Restaurants, and Ukulele Shops In Foreign Countries
Brooklyn Burger Bar, Hamburg
Unsurprisingly, there’s a lot of Brooklyn-themed stuff in Germany to choose from—a Berlin steakhouse called The Brooklyn attached to a boutique hotel called The Dude is a standout—but maybe the most interesting is the existence of Brooklyn Burger Bar in the city they actually named burgers after. They’ve gone big with the theme here (think lots of wrought iron, meat-heavy menu, elaborate cocktails) and the entire menu—which includes a Def Jam Burger and, incredibly, a cocktail called This Little Piggy Drank Whiskey—is worth browsing.
A counterpoint to all this? The bar’s most recent review on Trip Advisor, which calls the place a “cracking little boozer” and the “closest you will find to an English ‘Pub’ in Hamburg.” Hmm. Maybe we’ve been reading too much into all this?
