The 10 Least Sexy Books That Everyone Thinks Are Really Sexy (But Everyone Is Really Wrong)
Lolita Vladimir Nabokov
Speaking of books that center around unhealthy obsessions with young girls, Lolita easily has to be the novel that makes us squirm the most when it lands on “sexy book” lists. Flavorwire’s Emily Temple clarifies her choice, writing, “it’s not the love story between a man and an underage girl that should get you going. It’s the idea of intense, blinding passion that tucks you up under its arm and proceeds to deface your entire life.” Except, you know, that “intense, blinding passion” is about a pre-pubescent girl. Look, Lolita is one of our favorite books. We’ll defend it in every way. But that doesn’t mean we get turned on by it. Not at all.
