RIP Videogum, The Best Blog On The Internet Except For This One*
*No, Videogum was the best of the best.
For anyone who spends even a small chunk of their day on the internet, some real sad news: Videogum’s days are numbered. In a post yesterday, Kelly Conaboy explained it thusly:
“Videogum is no longer being run by SPINMedia, the company that we’ve been a part of for many years, and Friday will be my last day here. As for what will happen after Friday, I don’t know, and I don’t care. JK! JK JK JK. Scott Lapatine (you remember him, right? from Stereogum and also from giving life to everything we’ve ever done here?) is assessing options for keeping Videogum online in some form. We’ll see. But for now, all we can do is try to keep our chins up, be grateful for the many, many blogging years we’ve been given here, and enjoy our last week together.”
A sad and unexpected end to just about the only blog that ever consistently turned up legitimately funny, undiscovered material, not just the same stuff the same ten websites were re-posting on a given day (*gives a long, hard side-eye to every other existing web property*). The site that brought us pizza reviews, Topher Grace updates, honest assessments of Feist-heavy wedding videos, and a host of other daily joys. Here’s hoping they’ll figure out a way to stick around, but in the meantime, a loving dance tribute. Goes without saying, we found it on Videogum:
