Our Favorite Jewish-ish Dishes
There are lots of reasons to get excited about Thanksgivikkuh, the once-in-a-lifetime convergence of Thanksgiving with the first night of Hanukkah. Not least of which are all of the extra possibilities for layers in your Turducken, because who doesn’t love the thought of waterfowl encased in gefilte fish? And the restaurant community has positively raced to add their quirky contributions to the holiday food cannon, from Shelsky’s potato latke stuffing, to the turkey-filled donuts at Zucker Bakery in Manhattan.
But if you’re a Brooklyn Jew (or just a Johnny-come-lately fan of our food), it’s possible to celebrate our ascendency into the current culinary zeitgeist 365 days a year. Because the formerly disregarded cuisine is showing up in unexpected places, and we’ve rounded them up in this list of delicious Jewish-ish dishes.
