Bands with Pans: Celestial Shore
The dudes boil a cup of red quinoa. In North Brooklyn, I stupidly assumed everyone knew the grain. Greg and my brave photographer didn’t.
Sam: “It’s packed full of protein.”
Max: “It’s a superfood.”
Sam: “It’s even good cold… If I wake up drunk and had quinoa the night before, [I’ll still eat it]… I prefer red to white. I always thought it was visual… but texturally the way it feels, is a little crunchier.”
Sam cracks open the can of black beans. “This is a crucial step, what I’m doing right here,” he says, rinsing them. “Most people don’t do this. If you’re going to get Goya black beans, you have to do this. You don’t want them to taste like can beans—nasty nasty can beans.”
