Yesterday, Prospect Park said all of its 585 acres would be off-limits to visitors on Friday afternoon in conjunction with President Obama’s visit to a high school two miles away in Crown Heights in order to accommodate his helicopters in case of an emergency. Today, however, the park’s Facebook page announced that “only portions of Prospect Park will not be accessible… The closure will not affect the entire park. We apologize for the inconvenience and any confusion associated with earlier messages.” The park’s website does not identify which parts of the park will be affected. Will your daily run be affected?
If you don’t want to take the chance, you have an alternative: Green-Wood Cemetery announced that they will allow runners into the graveyard tomorrow from noon until 6pm. “Cemetery officials stress that this is a one-day only accommodation,” according to a press release. “Jogging on Cemetery grounds is otherwise strictly prohibited.” Runners are asked to respect graves and mourners.
