10 Brooklyn Neighborhood Restaurants and Bars Where You Ought to Become a Regular
I don’t live in Bay Ridge, and so asked my co-worker and Bay Ridge native, Henry Stewart, what his go-to regular spots in the neighborhood are. And while Henry is a fan of new hipster bay the Lock Yard, he acknowledged that it’s too recent an arrival to qualify as a good place to be a regular. Instead, Henry narrowed it down to two places, the bar Three Jolly Pigeons and the Owl’s Head. And while TJP sounds like…quite a spot, I haven’t been there. But I have been to the Owl’s Head and can verify that it’s just the kind of place where you’d happily stop in for a glass (or two or three) of wine each night after a long commute home on the R train, maybe get an order of perfect arrancini to accompany your tempranillo, and chat a bit with owner John Avelluto, before heading home, secure in the knowledge that while Bay Ridge might be hard to get to on the weekends (curse you Hurricane Sandy!), once you’re there? You’ve got plenty of great neighborhood spots to hit up.
