Eat (And Drink) Your Way Through Literary Brooklyn
Goodbye Blue Monday
Another place worth visiting as a still-potent hub of literary culture (though, as one of Bushwick’s longest-running cultural institutions, we could fairly ascribe some history to it, too). And in an industry that can be tiresomely dependent on who you know, Goodbye Blue Monday has always been refreshing in the sense that here, connections (or lack thereof) mean absolutely nothing. Any act can book a spot or just show up to their weekly open mic nights, and the place has played host to scores of poets and readings over the years, as well as the launch of the Bushwick Book Club. They’re also good for cheap drinks, shelves full of weird old books and records, and abundantly good people watching. Bring a computer or a notebook, pretend you’re getting some work done, and take it all in over some $4 wine.
