10 Things You Need to Eat and Drink Before Summer’s Over
Tasting Menu; Take Root
The tasting menu at Take Root is probably the best bang for your buck in all of Brooklyn. Yeah, I said it, and I wholeheartedly stand behind that statement. Chef Elise Kornack is a culinary magician and shops for each evening’s tasting meal at local farmer’s markets, so you’re guaranteed to have a seasonal, local dinner. The menu changes frequently, but a recent menu included things like a tomato and cucumber salad with yogurt, saffron and pepquino melon, monkfish with fennel, Meyer lemon and trout roe, and a stone fruit desert with almonds and cardamom. Go to Take Root if you want to say a big, lusty goodbye to all of summer’s food-related goodness. It’ll be a fitting farewell, so that you can soon embrace fall with open arms, and, I guess, an open mouth.
