F. Scott Fitzgerald once said, “There are no second acts in American lives.” But New York City isn’t really America, is it? It’s some weird and singular place which has its own rules, and where second, and even third, acts are practically a given. And so in light of the fact that we currently have two disgraced politicians running for public office again in New York City, I figured it wouldn’t be the worst time to look back and see how some other notorious New Yorkers managed to recover from scandal and infamy. Or, you know, not. Because sometimes you do things for which you just can’t atone. Even New York has standards. Sometimes.
