Brooklyn’s Most Iconic Signs
The Jehovah’s Witnesses are presently divesting themselves of their Brooklyn properties on the DUMBO-Brooklyn Heights border for a move upstate, netting them hundreds of millions of dollars in sales. That includes the one bearing a sign with 15-foot tall letters spelling out WATCHTOWER, which has shined every night since the religious group bought the building in 1969. It seems to me unlikely that the developers converting the property into office space would preserve the sign, but, hey, you never know what people feel strongly and strangely connected to.
