Visitors who slip into Red Hook on its north end have seen this epic sign, which just says R. It was once the home of EJ TRUM’s paper goods manufacture; when a new owner bought the building in the 70s, he set about dismantling the old sign, but, as Forgotten New York reports, the R wouldn’t budge, surely held in place by the indomitable spirit of Red Hook.
