Hot Enough for Ya? Ugh. Here Are Five Easy Ways to Beat the Heat
The Open Seas aka Ferry Rides on the East River
So, ok. Telling you to ride around on the East River Ferry might seem to be the aquatic equivalent of suggesting you just ride back and forth on the F train all day, basking in its air-conditioned glory. But, no. It’s not the same thing at all. The ferry moves quickly enough along its watery route that there is always a strong wind blowing, which, even when that wind is as hot as Satan’s breath, still manages to make you cool off. Plus, where else do you get such a beautiful view of the old Domino Sugar Factory? And, of course, the ferry isn’t just there for keeping cool. It also takes you places. Places like Greenpoint, where you can jump off and walk over to Tørst and enjoy a big glass of spicy, hibisicus-laced Viking Blød mead, or places like Williamsburg, where you can drink a whiskey in the shaded backyard at The Gibson, where patrons tend to bring their dogs, which makes everything in life seem good.
Tørst; 615 Manhattan Avenue, Greenpoint
The Gibson:108 Bedford Avenue, Williamsburg
