A Visitor’s Guide to the Brooklyn Flea
Food
The classic here being the Red Hook Lobster Pound lobster roll, for which long lines start forming early. If you don’t feel like waiting (or if you just have extra room), stop by Brooklyn Bangers for a juicy, locally and ethically made assortment of brats, or Big Bao, which incorporates toppings like fried pork rinds. For the less carnivorous, there’s Chickpea and Olive (they’re set up at Smorgasburg on Saturdays and Williamsburg’s branch of the Flea on Sundays), which turns out creative, uncompromising, and delicious vegan takes on the classics, with dishes like beet sliders and a BLT made with eggplant bacon. If we could give you one key piece of advice other than “come early,” it’d be to come hungry.
