The 8 Best Theaters in Brooklyn
Irondale
This theater space in an old church building deeper into Fort Greene than BAM often hosts some great companies or at least interesting-sounding shows. It’s a large, mutable space that attracts a lot of different groups to do a lot of different things: maybe set it up like traditional theater space, or maybe bleacher-style in the round, or maybe the balcony is transformed into an interactive wonderland where actors are giving away free pieces of cinnamon toast. Since the Brooklyn Lyceum in Gowanus stopped being used as a theater, this is probably the most interesting space in Brooklyn available to theatermakers. [photo]
