The Perfect Prospect Park Walking Tour
Take the long staircase in the southwest corner down a ways, but not all the way down.
When you get nearer the bottom and a trail opens up to your left, take it. The whole point of this is to walk down as many trails as you can!
The trail will let you out on another main road, Wellhouse Drive, with the Maryland Monument in the near distance, dedicated to the company of Maryland soldiers who fought the British here during the Battle of Long Island. Make a right on Wellhouse and you’ll quickly come to a clearing called The Peninsula. You want to turn left onto it but then make another quick left turn, going back the way you came but now on the other side of the trees. Now you’re on the north side of the Lullwater Trail!
Follow this a little ways and you’ll reach the Terrace Bridge.
You’re really separated from the city now. Take deep breaths of that fresh air, vaguely tinged with vegetation and sea. There’s a main Lullwater Trail but also several opportunities to walk right alongside the water. Keep an eye out for turtles! You’ll emerge on the south edge of the Nethermead, the meadow in the heart of the park where they hold GoogaMooga. Follow the path you’re on, bearing right as it turns.
