5 Summer Cocktails To Get You Through This Miserable Heat
Hemingway Daiquiri
This is maybe the best way to get in on rum’s burgeoning comeback in the world of cocktails, and also an important step in the long, slow recovery from our collective misjudgment of daiquiris as weird booze smoothies that can only be consumed while on vacation. This is cruelly unfair. The Hemingway version essentially consists of just white rum and a bit of citrus (usually lime and grapefruit), and while recipes vary, the goal here is to keep things simple and to the point. Kind of like Hemingway himself?! Anyway, Alameda recently opened in Greenpoint with a nice rendition on their menu, and it’s also a safe bet at Huckleberry Bar, which stocks the excellent white rum being turned out nearby at The Noble Experiment. Really, you could devote enough energy “getting into” rum to distract you through the entire rest of the summer, should you choose.
