Weiner Leans In: 5 Thoughts On Anthony Weiner’s Mayoral Candidacy
- There were so many—SO MANY—great Weiner pictures out there. But I avoided going with a dick pic because I have CLASS.
Perhaps it is because Bloomberg has been mayor for almost twelve years now and it’s hard to really conceive of a time when he won’t be anymore, or perhaps it is because there isn’t anything terribly exciting going on in the current field of mayoral candidates yet, but it’s sort of hard to get behind any one of the people who want to lead our city. Well, at least that’s the case with me. I’m not all that invested yet. Some people have already picked a horse in the race. The L Magazine’s Henry Stewart has officially endorsed Bay Ridge’s Sal Albanese, saying, “He’s the most progressive candidate in the mayoral race right now. He’s right on all the issues, by which I mean, left on all the issues.”
But so, while Henry will see Albanese through till the end—even promising to write Albanese in on the ballot should the candidate fail to win the Democratic primary—many of the rest of us are still undecided. And while there are several reasons that I am not sorry to see Bloomberg go—namely that it has been twelve fucking years since we’ve had a new mayor—it is kind of hard to imagine not having someone to feel really strongly about one way or another. I mean, it’s just as much fun to hate someone as love them, isn’t it?
Well, it looks like we might finally have a mayoral candidate to feel really strongly about! Former congressman and noted dick pic aficionado Anthony Weiner is looking to throw his hat in the ring. The New York Times Magazine has an in-depth profile on Weiner and his wife, Hillary Clinton-aide Huma Abedin, which is intended to put Weiner firmly back in the spotlight after his sex scandal and subsequent resignation almost two years ago.
