Silent Barn: Brooklyn’s Latest Collective
Angela Moore — Yard, Grants, Resident
-How long have you been living in Brooklyn?
Since 2005 off and on.
-What brought you here?
Graduate School, studying International Relations the first time around. The second time I was brought back by the will of the universe. Third time around I was brought back by Silent Barn.
-What do you find to be unique about the artistic community in Brooklyn?
There are so many various communities. You can find any type of artistic community that may align with your own values/aspirations.
-What are some of your inspirations—both in your art/career and just in your everyday life?
Sometimes it’s love or science or an interesting animal or a saint or something written by Manly P. Hall or the idea of dropouts throughout history or someone that was righteous in history or the mystery itself. In my music I am majorly influenced by the Tibetan idea of Gift Waves. Eventually we all become Bodhis.
-Do you see yourself staying in Brooklyn?
Yes, my love and my life are intertwined with Brooklyn.
-What’s a perfect Brooklyn day for you?
It would involve Music, Friends and Food and maybe some Beach.
-What are the challenges inherent to being an artist in Brooklyn?
The biggest challenge for me is distracting energy… There are so many beautiful people and events to interact with. This is all very inspirational but knowing when to step back into your own space can be the challenge.
