If nations today make only modest cuts to pollution, sea levels could rise 12 feet by 2300. In such a scenario, a significant portion of the borough would be lost. Gone. Coney Island, Brighton Beach, Manhattan Beach totally submerged, with flooding extending north into Gravesend and Bensonhurst. Sheepshead Bay would mostly disappear; likewise Floyd Bennet Field, Marine Park, Gerritsen and Bergen beaches, Canarsie. The whole southern shore would be submerged. Red Hook, of course, would be gone. The Brooklyn Navy Yard would be underwater, and parts of Greenpoint would begin to seriously flood.
