Sarah Evans’s MEGA-ETC: More Than Just Awesome Macramé
We discovered Sarah Evans’s wonderful and very handmade jewelry at the Renegade Craft Fair this past summer, and we fell in love immediately with her chunky necklaces and improbably cool macramé plant holders (yes, that’s right, macramé plant holders). It doesn’t hurt that she approaches her craft with a focus on “reusing and reviving” found materials. “I think all Brooklynites can agree that we don’t have the time or the space to waste anything,” she tells us. Evans went on to describe what moves her creative process and, charmingly, it’s easy to see these inspirations at play in her work: “I am inspired by my childhood memories; roadtrips down the coast; my Papa’s cluttered tackle box; playing dress-up with my sister; and the arts and crafts cabin at camp, where I first learned how to make a friendship bracelet.”
