Bye-Bye Brooklyn: 6 End of Summer Getaways
Weekend Trip:
Philadelphia
Maybe you want to get away but you have no desire to be anywhere that has anything to do with nature at all? Well, then! Okay. You might want to think long and hard about what your problem is with nature, but I’ll let it go for now and recommend Philadelphia, a major urban center that is decidedly not Brooklyn (no matter what it likes to tell itself.)
What is there to do in Philly? Well, eat cheesesteaks for starters! Yum.
But what ELSE is there to do? Lots! What I recommend though is a visit to the Mutter Museum, which is a museum that houses all sorts of medical curiosities and is a truly EPIC place at which to buy presents for the people that you really and truly love.
For example, do you know anyone who WOULDN’T want a conjoined twin gingerbread man cookie cutter? I didn’t think so. Buy a lot of these and use them as stocking stuffers this Christmas (if Christmas is your thing) and feel good about accomplishing something on this, your Labor Day getaway.
Getting there: Amtrak from NYC to Philly. Boom! You’re there.
