The 10 Worst Brooklynites of All Time
Born in Brooklyn, the Son of Sam would move to Yonkers before he would terrorize the outerboroughs between 1976 and 1977, killing at least six and wounding seven. (Berkowitz claims responsibility for only half of that, saying the rest were committed by other members of a cult.) After a rash of shootings in the Bronx and especially Queens, it was Berkowitz’s first attempt at a killing in Brooklyn that would be his undoing: a parking ticket issued to the killer’s car on Bay 17th Street in Bath Beach on the night Berkowitz shot his last victim is what led detectives to his door.
