Though born into the Lower East Side, Barbera’s parents moved him to Flatbush when he was four months old; he would later graduate from Erasmus. But honestly we were conflicted about his inclusion on this list. As one half of famous animation duo Hanna-Barbera, he pioneered techniques that cheapened animation, debasing the once-grand art form of Walt Disney and the Fleischer Brothers. Then again, H-B did create most of the most famous cartoon characters ever: Yogi Bear, Scooby-Doo, the Flintstones and our favorite, Tom and Jerry. Plus, the two’s money-saving, quality-sacrificing techniques are said to have paved the way for series like South Park and The Simpsons. Ok, ok, so he can stay on the list.
